About Us

TKTR Architects was founded in 2001 by Thomas Krähenbühl and Truett Roberts. Both principals had their own distinct career in architecture before starting the partnership.  TKTR’s various projects include new structures as well as the renovation, reuse, and conservation of existing structures.  The firm’s clients include art organizations, educational institutions, health organizations as well as commercial and residential clients.

We understand our work as innovative and willful interventions in a broad urban environment, based on a clear, in-depth analysis of the facts and rules of that environment.

We do not believe in specialization, but rather, we intentionally pursue a broad spectrum of project types. The solution to each project is approached in the broadest possible way and each of our architectural designs is unique, based on the project’s unique location and needs.

We believe in a continuous dialogue with the client and the design team from beginning to end of a project, and we welcome the economic forces in construction as positive factors in the planning process.

We consider sustainable design a pivotal element for success, and we encourage it on all levels. Both principals are accredited as LEED professionals, thus acknowledging the value of sustainable design and healthy environments to our clients and society at large.
